About J&K Communications
J & K Communications, Inc. operates out of modern facilities located in Columbia City, Indiana. Employing approximately twenty full time employees, J & K sales and services two-way radio equipment, telemetry/SCADA equipment, and pagers. J & K is an authorized service center for Kenwood Communications, Microwave Data Systems, Zetron, SpectraLink, and SpectraCom. Our technicians have been factory trained to provide, install, and trouble shoot the equipment you require to accommodate your communication needs.
Our salesmen are factory trained on SCADA systems, 911 centers, and two-way data transmission systems. Our salesmen offer over twenty-five years of selling communications equipment. J & K's success over the past twenty-five years didn't just happen over night. Rosemarie graduated from Indiana University in May 1986 with an Associates of Science Degree in accounting. Upon graduation from college, Rosemarie was employed as Assistant Treasurer of the Fayette County School Corporation and worked there until August 1989 when she moved to Columbia City, Indiana.
In December 1989 Rosemarie became Secretary/Treasurer and co-owner of J & K Communications, Inc. Her duties included keeping the minutes for the Board of Directors and all corresponding annual reports. She assumed the payroll duties at J & K in January 1990 and was responsible for the weekly payroll and all related weekly, monthly and annual payroll reports. She worked closely with J & K's accountant to insure timely and accurate reporting.

Rosemarie's duties at J & K were expanded in June 1997 to include management of key sales support personnel, payroll, processing all accounts payable and accounts receivable, customer invoicing for all service contracts, tower fees, repeater and dispatch fees and radio airtime fees. She maintained all of J & K’s leases, making sure that all annual increases were billed and renewals were done in a timely manner. She worked closely with the J & K management team and assisted in human resource issues: interviewing potential new job applicants and helping to oversee health insurance and the 401k plan.
Since 2001, Rosemarie has assisted in the engineering of digital communications systems used in a wide range of SCADA (Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition), assisting her husband Jon in field propagation studies. Rosie has assumed the position of CEO of J & K Communications, Inc., overseeing the operations of the company, continuing her field work, making HR decisions and managing the accounting department.
Rosie and Jon Shew take pride in the fact that J & K has been in business since 1976 supplying communications systems to customers in Indiana and surrounding states. The company has grown to include not only their headquarters office in Columbia City; but also includes two satellite locations in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Indiana. Although the company is growing, you won’t lose that family owned business feeling with Rosie and Jon and the J & K Team.

J&K Communications Inc. was founded in 1976 by President Jon A. Shew.
Jon started his career as a two-way radio technician, with a first class Radio F.C.C. license. Jon's first position was with the Allen County Sheriffs' Department where he developed and managed their communications maintenance department for 6 years. During that period of time the transition was made from tube radio to transistor equipment and the worlds first operational computer interfaced teleprinter system.
Following his lifelong dream of owning his own business, Jon purchased 18 percent of Midwest Communications, leaving the public sector to enter private enterprise.

Later in 1976 Jon sold his share of Midwest and started J&K Communications. Initially focusing on consumer products sales and service, he set his goals on serving the commercial market.
Now operating from an efficient, new facility in Blue River Industrial Park, J&K employs some 20 full time employees. With Jon's beginnings in service, J&K started and remains today – strongly committed to service. Today J&K provides and services the finest in two-way voice and data communications for small and large businesses, from the simplest to extremely sophisticated wide area systems.
