Experienced SCADA Radio Technician - Columbia City, IN
J & K Communications, Inc. has been around since 1976 and is one of the leading communications equipment providers as well as one of the Nation’s largest Kenwood dealers in the United States. Offering a variety of products and services, we specialize in providing equipment and servicing clients from the Public Safety sector, Healthcare, Education, Manufacturing, Industrial and everything in between.
Our Columbia City, IN office has an immediate opening of an experienced Industrial Communications/SCADA Radio Technician.
This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive:
- Diagnose, repair and install cellular, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint radios and microwave radio systems.
- Networking and routing knowledge to include LAN, WAN, OSPF and BGP
- Knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 network protocols to include, Ethernet, ARP, IP, TCP, UDP, SNMP, IGMP, ICMP and DHCP
- Knowledge of PLC/RTU communications protocols.
- Diagnose, repair, and install antenna systems and RF filtering systems.
- Construction of electrical panels based on blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Diagnose, repair, and install DC and AC circuits.
- Experience using MS Office 365 applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, etc.
- Strong computer and documentation skills
- Manage multiple assigned projects simultaneously, either individually or as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license
- Occasionally lift heavy objections up to 100lbs.

Experienced Tower Climber/ RF Field Technician – Columbia City, IN
J & K Communications, Inc. has been around since 1976 and is one of the leading communications equipment providers as well as one of the Nation’s largest Kenwood dealers in the United States. Offering a variety of products and services, we specialize in providing equipment and servicing clients from the Public Safety sector, Healthcare, Education, Manufacturing, Industrial and everything in between.
J & K is in immediate need of an Experienced Tower Climber/ RF Field Technician in the Columbia City area. This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive:
• Installation and removal of LMR, SCADA and Microwave radio systems on free standing towers and water tanks.
• Knowledge of equipment, climbing, rigging and safety procedures is a plus but can be taught.
• Basic working knowledge of Direct and Alternating electrical current.
• Install and maintain radio systems, including base stations, repeaters, mobile radios, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint radios and microwave radio systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair radio equipment, including diagnosing faults and replacing faulty components.
• Networking and routing knowledge to include LAN, WAN, OSPF and BGP

Lists of skills and requirements for the position:
• 3-5 years’ experience in the industry or similar industry is preferred
• Basic working knowledge of hand tools and power tool operation.
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-hire drug screen/physical is a must
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel (overnights) when needed
• Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and clients daily

Experienced Two Way Radio Systems Technician - Columbia City, IN

Our Columbia City, IN office has an immediate opening of an experienced Two-Way Radio Systems Technician.
This list of responsibilities and requirements is not all inclusive:
- Install and maintain two-way radio systems, including base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios.
- Troubleshoot and repair radio equipment, including diagnosing faults and replacing faulty components.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections of radio equipment.

At least 2 years of land mobile radio systems, Conventional Analog, Digital, NXDN Trunking systems, P25 (Atlas Preferred), voted systems, IP based systems, consoles and I/O interconnections preferred. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License, FCIA, NABER or equivalent industry certification is a plus!

Our Indianapolis, IN office has an immediate opening for an experienced Office Manager. This individual should be highly motivated, driven, organized, can multitask, and should excel working independently as well as in a group dynamic. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office as well as assist in growing the location.
This list of responsibilities of the Office Manager is not all inclusive:
- Manage and coordinate office operations and procedures
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication
- Ensure office efficiency by implementing and maintaining office systems and procedures
- Handle incoming and outgoing communication via email, phone and mail
- Manage office supplies, radios and parts inventory for the location
- Support the Sales Manager with scheduling appointments, small quotes, presentations and reports
- Audit and monitor customer orders and service orders for the sales and technical staff
- Handle inbound and outbound UPS shipments

- 3-5 years’ experience as an Office Manager or relevant administrative role
- Experience with Profit and Loss (P&L) Statements
- Understanding of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 products i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel (Dynamics a plus)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills is a must

- Manage sales leads and schedule appointments with prospective customers
- Make cold calls to prospective customers
- Following up with customers and providing solutions should a concern arise
