Two Way Radio Systems Technician — Indianapolis, IN

J & K Communications is seeking an energetic, self-motivator to join our growing team. We
are looking for a dependable, long-term, hard-working individual who works well under
pressure and has strong communication skills.

The basic functions of the Two-Way Radio Systems Technician at J & K Communications, Inc.
is to perform in-house and in-field responses to day-to-day radio problems, perform component
level repairs on fixed site, mobile and portable equipment. This list of duties and responsibilities
is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties as management may deem
necessary from time to time:

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic support for radio related systems
  • Research and evaluate system problems and recommend a solution
  • Work with the sales team to assist in coordinating project installation/deployments
  • Install and/or remove equipment (i.e. radio interoperability gateways,remote controls and external speakers, etc.)
  • Check-in, evaluate and repair units sent/brought into shop for repair
  • Program radios and keep updated documentation
  • Assist with the specifications and design of dispatch and remote communications facilities
  • Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and customers on a daily basis
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to prioritize and multitask is a must

At least 5 years of land mobile radio systems, Kenwood Conventional Analog, Digital, NXDN
Trunking systems, voted systems, IP based systems, consoles and I/O interconnections
preferred. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License, FCIA, NABER or equivalent
industry certification is a plus! Qualified individuals with at least a high school diploma or
equivalent and valid driver’s license should apply.

Bench Technician — Columbia City, IN

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair radio issues down to component level
  • Assist with programming of radios and prepare loaner radios to send out
  • Prepare radios to be sent to factory for repair
  • Understanding of schematics
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, oral, written and listening skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and customers

  • Checking in radio/equipment repairs
  • Following up on tickets with service staff, factory & clients
  • Shipping/Receiving
  • Respond to customer calls and email inquires
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, oral, written, and listening skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and customers
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask is a must
